First of the month, last month's rent, and the keys. Read the amount before you sign.
Ask if rent is due on the first of the month, and whether last month's rent is due up front. The usual ask is not the same as the number on your lease. Do not sign until you see that amount.
The viewing episode and the first-and-last episode cover the same doorway from two angles. Take the lease home and read every page.
When a lease is ending, the renewal episode is the wording for that meeting. Terms, increases, and deposits follow the agreement and the local rules that day. The show does not promise you the apartment.
Tenant insurance, if the building asks for it, is its own episode later in the schedule. Read what a policy covers before you buy. A leak is not automatically included.
